Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2014 Austin CBC on December 20th! We really appreciate all of the help and enthusiasm that you bring to the count each year!

The count finished with 143 species. Not a high count by any means, and we think that this was due to the unusually low number of extra-limital birds in the area. It was not an irruption year for any northern or western species that can sometimes find themselves in our circle for the winter.

We had high counts for the following species: Canvasback (98)
Black Vulture (689)
Red-shouldered Hawk (49)
Merlin (5)
White-winged Dove (3316)
Monk Parakeet (34)
Barred Owl (12)
Ringed Kingfisher (6)
Red-bellied Woodpecker (239)
Downy Woodpecker (83)
Pileated Woodpecker (7)
Common Raven (2)
Hybrid Titmouse (307)
Carolina Wren (417)
Gray Catbird (3)
Northern Mockingbird (588)

Unusual Species (those requiring documentation) were:
Greater Scaup
Northern Bobwhite
Gray Catbird
Dark0eyed Junco (Oregon)
Bullock's Oriole

We had 104 observers, with 23 - 28 parties in the field at any one time for a total of 228.25 party hours. That's fantastic!

We also had 3 feeder-watchers this year.

The final report is attached to the bottom of this page.
